Alternative Therapies
An increasing number of patients are turning to Integrative or Alternative Medicine therapies as part of their overall cancer treatment plan. The Northridge Hospital provides a science-based approach to guide patients who want to combine these therapies with conventional treatments.
Integrative Medicine therapies may help to:
- Fight fatigue
- Alleviate nausea
- Decrease pain
- Reduce stress/anxiety/depression
- Heal wounds
Additionally, we work with you and your family toward lifestyle changes that may decrease the risk of cancer in the future. We treat you as an individual and work with you to make every day better than the one before.
Our program serves as a resource for our community of patients, families, attending physicians, and physicians-in-training. We also educate large audiences through regional and national health and medical conferences. We provide ongoing teaching and training opportunities, including community lectures and workshops.
The Northridge Hospital Integrative Medicine Program offers several healing modalities including:
- Plant-based medicines (Herbs)
- Nutritional Supplementation
- Lifestyle changes in nutrition, exercise, and stress management
- Manual therapies and Healing Arts such as Massage and Yoga Relaxation techniques such as Meditation, Biofeedback, Hypnotherapy, Guided Imagery and the Art of Forgiveness
