Unique Mobility System At Northridge Hospital
Since its introduction to the general public in 2003, the INDEPENDENCE(R) iBOT(R) Mobility System has created greater awareness of providing equal accessibility to people with disabilities. The iBOT(R) Mobility System has a combination of features that is unlike any wheelchair or scooter ever created.
Northridge Hospital Medical Center, the first and only iBOT(R) Evaluation Center in Los Angeles, was chosen because of our belief in empowering people with mobility-related disabilities to freely go where they want to go, helping satisfy the natural human desire for mobility and freedom.
Independence Technology, a Johnson & Johnson Company, developed the IBOT(R) 4000 and has chosen to work with our Center for Rehabilitation Medicine because of our dedication to providing cutting edge technology and innovation to consumer throughout Los Angeles.
Northridge Hospital is one of two selected evaluation locations in the State of California.
The iBOT(R) Mobility System offers a unique combination of five functions:
-
Four-wheel Function: climb curbs as high a five inches, and to travel over grass and gravel, through sand and across other forms of uneven terrain. Balance Function: raises a person to eye level for business or social interactions, even when on the move. You can also safety and easily see over counters and reach high shelves in an office, kitchen or supermarket.
-
Standard Function: moves around indoors or outdoors, just as today's current power chairs. Unlike typical wheelchair you can easily switch to what ever function is needed.
-
Stair Function: takes on the challenge of steps and stairways with confidence. You can securely climb up or down stairs, or a full flight of stairs. A gyroscope adjusts to the center of gravity.
-
Remote Function: the user control panel is detached to maneuver the iBOT(R) Mobility System unoccupied up a ramp and into a vehicle for transportation.
