Carole Pump Women's Center

The Women's Center at Northridge Hospital Medical Center offers an innovative, woman-sensitive approach to healthcare. Our comprehensive services for women's wellness, diagnosis, and treatment are conveniently provided all in one location. You can reach the Women's Center at (818) 700-5678.

We believe that your health and wellness rely on many factors, including physical, social, emotional, mental, and spirtual. That's why we support you in taking an active approach to wellness with services, classes and events that help you focus on the whole person.

Diagnostic Imaging Services

From mammography and ultrasound to stereotactic biopsy and osteoporosis screening, the diagnostic services at the Women's Center are tailored to the unique needs of women. The Center's dedicated interdisciplinary approach to breast services ensures that you receive the most accurate and responsive care possible.

The professional staff at the Women's Center becomes a patient's personal health care coordinator, relieving much of

the worry that is associated with breast cancer prevention. After your mammogram, the results are mailed to you in approximately three days. If additional testing is required, one phone number is all you need to make all the arrangements.

Our Philosophy

We have taken extra care at the Women's Center to create a warm, inviting environment. From soothing colors and comfortable chairs to friendly, caring staff and state-of-the-art facilities, you'll feel right at home.

We understand that each stage of a woman's life is precious and can raise a variety of health questions and concerns. From complicated childbirth to the effective treatment of menopause, the Women's Center offers an innovative, woman-sensitive approach to healthcare.

Restoring Self Image

The Women's Center, in association with the American Cancer Society, provides cancer patients with Look Good, Feel Better sessions. This unique program demonstrates make-up tips, wigs, and other accessories for restoring confidence and a positive self-image after undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy treatments.

The effects of surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy often influence the way a woman feels about her appearance. Intimate Image offers a variety of products designed specifically for women undergoing cancer treatment. Products include wigs, hats, wraps, turbans, clothing, prostheses, and intimate apparel. The individuals who staff the boutique are specially trained and sensitive to the unique needs of cancer patients, and work closely with healthcare providers. To schedule an appointment, call (818) 876-7333.

Breast Cancer Tumor Board

At the Women's Center, each patient receives top priority treatment from our Breast Cancer Tumor Board, consisting of physicians who specialize in all aspects of breast cancer treatment. As a team, this group of radiation oncologists, surgeons, medical oncologists, treatment coordinators, therapists, and social workers reviews and assesses each case history to maximize resources and develop a treatment plan that works best for the patient.

Northridge Hospital proudly participates in numerous research studies with patients that help in the development of new, more effective treatments.

Osteoporosis Screening

Osteoporosis is a serious concern for millions of women. Our new bone densitometer and sonometer allows us to evaluate your osteoporosis risks and help your physician development treatment strategies when necessary.

The Women's Center helps women understand and respond to their risk of osteoporosis by providing low-cost osteoporosis screenings for early detection. We use a dexa unit to screen the lumbar spine and hip, or wrist and heel, to quickly evaluate the bone density and future risk of osteoporosis. For a more comprehensive evaluation, the Women's Center offers full densitometry technology to detect clinically significant changes in bone mass at an early stage.

We invite you to visit our online Health & Wellness Library to take the "Osteoporsis Risk Assessment", or explore a number of topics under the Self-Care Center for the Women's Health.

Learning and Growing

Education is the key to disease prevention and Northridge Hospital offers a variety of health education classes on women's topics including childbirth and parenting education, breast cancer and osteoporosis prevention. Our Integrative Medicine Program incorporates alternative therapies for menopause symptom management, stress management, chronic pain relief, and the prevention of heart disease, cancer, and osteoporosis.

Take a holistic approach to your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being with a wide range of classes, workshops, and seminars offered through the Healing Arts Program. Topics include yoga, healthy cooking, aromatherapy, meditation, self-hypnosis, tai chi, mid-life health issues, and more. This program is a collaborative effort of the Women's Center, the Cancer Center, and the Heart Center at Northridge Hospital.
