Betty J. Weiland Ambulatory Surgical Center
Our Outpatient Surgery Center serves the patient who has surgery and returns home on the same day. This allows for minimal disruption in your personal routine and promotes rest and recovery in the comfort of your own home.
Our technologically advanced center is designed to make your outpatient experience as convenient and comfortable as possible. The Outpatient Surgery Center is separate from the hospital and the entrance is on Roscoe Boulevard next to the Cancer Center.
From the moment you arrive and throughout your stay your comfort, safety, satisfaction, and peace of mind are a top priority of our highly skilled medical team. The center's state-of-the-art technology, combined with excellent and attentive care, consistently draws high praise from our patients.
Today, more than half of all surgical procedures are outpatient - where patients arrive at the morning of surgery and leave the same day. Outpatient surgery offers many advantages over inpatient surgery:
- Reduced costs
- Shorter time away from family and friends
- Recuperating in the comfort and privacy of your home
Common outpatient procedures include cosmetic, dental, ENT, ophthalmic, podiatric, orthopedic, sports medicine, and pediatric cases over six months of age.
Pre-Registration
You may pre-register for your surgery during the week prior to your appointment date.
Pre-registration will include:
- Filling out forms with the help of our friendly staff
- Undergoing any required testing such as blood work, EKG, and radiology tests
- Discussing any questions you may have about your surgery
When you come for your pre-surgery appointment, bring:
- Insurance card(s)
- Any forms or paperwork from your doctor's office
- Your advanced healthcare directive form, if you have completed one
- If you don't have an advanced healthcare directive but would like one, the preoperative nurse can provide you with information and a form.
Parking
A small parking lot on Roscoe Boulevard is provided for outpatient surgery patients. The parking lot is located on the south side of Roscoe Boulevard, between Etiwanda Avenue and Reseda Boulevard, at the entrance of the Ambulatory Surgery Center and Cancer Center.
Family and Friends
Our Outpatient Surgery Center offers the latest in case monitoring that allows family and friends to view a real-time, color-coded monitor to track the stage of their loved one's procedure. By simply reviewing the monitor in the waiting room, family and friends can now track the surgery process and note times which they are allowed visit their loved one.
Accompanying family members or friends are made comfortable in our waiting area, with TV viewing readily available. Once your surgical procedure is completed your family will be paged or called to speak with the surgeon. After surgery, a family member is allowed to visit with you in our recovery room.
Recovery From Surgery
With 19 recovery beds conveniently located in our Outpatient Surgery Center, patients can rest assured knowing that the same helpful staff they met before the surgery will be there afterwards to assist throughout the recovery process. You can usually expect to go home an hour after your recovery.
It is best to have a ride home and someone to accompany you after your surgery. We welcome questions from your family members so they may better understand their role as caregivers at home.
Our concern for your health doesn't stop once you've left our hospital. All patients receive follow-up phone calls from our patient care team to check on your progress and to answer any questions about your continued recovery.
Pain Management
People used to think that severe pain after surgery was something they "just had to put up with." But with current treatments, that is no longer true.
Today, you can work with your nurses and doctors before, and after you have surgery to minimize your pain. All members of your health care team care about you and believe that you have a right to appropriate pain management.
