Cardiac Fitness
Helping Patients Set the Pace for Good Health
For those who are at a higher risk for heart disease, cardiac rehabilitation can introduce a healthy, comfortable exercise and diet program geared to reducing risk factors such as high blood pressure, stress, and obesity. Cardiac rehabilitation also benefits those who are recovering from a heart attack or cardiac surgery.
Our goal at the Northridge Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Center is:
- To reduce or eliminate the risk factors associated with heart and blood vessel disease
- To attain and maintain a healthy level of physical fitness
- To introduce diet, exercise, and health maintenance principles
- To nurture a fitness habit which will continue beyond the program
Safe Exercise That Is Personalized for Each Participant
The environment is much more than a gymnasium or spa, it combines the healthful benefits of personalized exercise with the safety and security of a supervised, fully-equipped medical facility, prepared for any emergency. The safety and well being of the exercise participant is our primary focus.
The exercise equipment allows each participant to continue at his or her own pace - safely and comfortably.
Plus, special censors can be worn in order to monitor heart rate and rhythm, as well as the participant's safe pace and progress.
One-on-One Education and Ongoing Support
We strive to educate patients in the type of physical performance and proper nutrition their bodies should have, while helping them realize the benefits they are deriving through performance monitoring.
Our helpful staff consists of registered nurses who are ACLS-certified by the American Heart Association, and possess extensive experience in critical care and cardiac services. These skilled nurses, along with other specialized staff members, guide each participant through one or more of the following programs as needed:
- Nutrition evaluation and counseling
- Monthly support group involvement
- Stress management program
- Guidance to help quit smoking
- Smooth transition into a safe at-home exercise program
Covered by Insurance
Most insurance companies and Medicare provide coverage for the program. Our staff is happy to discuss fees, insurance coverage, and to assist with payment coordination if necessary.
